Space Shuttles and April Showers

On Saturday, I stopped at Whole Foods to pick up some picnic like foods for our adventure to Udvar- Hazy Center to see Discovery. I had my own special tour guide which made it fun and a great learning opportunity. There were a few NASA contractors working on the shuttle inside the hanger and answering questions. It is a little sad to think that these contractors will be out a job in a matter of months since the Federal government eliminated human space flight.

Also, this museum houses the bomber that dropped the atomic bomb on Japan. It was a little strange to see it but extremely interesting.

Today was the perfect to be lazy. It has been raining since last night, so all I did was curl up and watch movies and read.

National Infant Immunization Week (April 21-28)

Recently, I have transitioned within my organization from public health preparedness to community health. My new focus is around immunization and billing for local health departments. My supervisor is extremely knowledgeable and we have supportive project officers from the CDC.

This week, I had to promote the National Infant Immunization Week that starts on April 21. Did you know that vaccines are among the most successful and cost-effective public health tools available for preventing disease and death? Vaccines not only help protect vaccinated individuals, but also help protect entire communities by preventing and reducing the spread of infectious diseases.

Immunization is a shared responsibility. Families, healthcare professionals, and public health officials must work together to help protect the entire community.

Springtime, Taxes, and Space Shuttles

Happy Tax Day!

Luckily, for me, I had my taxes done in February.

The walk to the Metro was great this morning with the light breeze and sun. It is time for iced coffee at the office.

Hopefully, I will be able to sneak out later today to see the Space Shuttle fly over to DC to it's finally resting place out by Dulles airport.

Washington Nationals

Yesterday was my first Washington Nationals game of the 2012 season. The team has been total rock stars lately with games going to extra innings and a win record of 5 in a row. The game started out interesting with the Nats down by 5 runs. They rallied and game back to tie which sent us to extra innings. In the end, the Nats could not hold off the Reds and lost 8 to 5 in the 11th inning. The Nats did win the series so that is a plus.

It was the perfect day for baseball: warm, a nice breeze, and Natitude.

A fresh start

So when I moved away from Columbia Heights to Van Ness, I stopped blogging. Unfortunately, I was away for a very long time. I think I am going to start blogging again about random things in DC.

This picture is at Dupont Circle. I walked up there this week because I had to get my hair cut. I found a really great hair dresser at VSL. I lucked out with a great hair cut and I will be going back.

Every day I read the Express, a free paper I get at my metro stop. The ad below has been running all week.
